The role of the adaptive immune response in the elimination of cancer cells

This section is devoted to the ability of the immune system to protect against cancer. When tumor antigens are taken up by antigen-presenting cells (APC), they are processed and epitopes are presented to T-cells in association with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule.
The aim of specific cancer immunotherapies, including ASCI, is to stimulate and enhance this natural immune response, to effectively kill tumor cells.
